Nu Mexico reached 12 million customers, a milestone that represents more than numbers. Today, around 12% of the adult Mexican population is already a Nu customer, and 23% of the banked population trusts our financial services. 

This accelerated growth is driven by our high-performance teams, committed to offering solutions that promote financial inclusion, simplicity and efficiency. It is through this work that we have been able to achieve impressive results, such as:

  • 86% of customers rate Nu’s impact on their lives as “high,” highlighting significant improvements in their daily routines, reduced cash dependency, and enhanced personal, family, and social well-being.
  • 60% of Nu México customers actively save through “Cajitas,” building stronger financial habits and greater economic stability.
  • Nearly 60% of customers report using less cash since joining Nu, accelerating digital financial inclusion.
  • 22% of customers gained first-time access to the formal financial system through Nu, fostering genuine financial inclusion.
  • 4 out of 10 customers who start with a secured credit card receive an upgraded credit offer within two years.
  • 65% of customers report improvements in household quality of life, thanks to easier service payments, and 49% highlight significant improvements due to the purchase of household goods.
  • 71.85% feel more secure when making transfers and safeguarding their money since becoming Nu customers.

Building for scale, simplicity, and inclusion

In 2025, the CNBV approved Nu México’s request for a banking license: a landmark achievement that empowers us to expand our portfolio, design new experiences, and deepen our relationship with customers. This milestone wasn’t just a legal upgrade. It was the result of coordinated effort across engineering, product, analytics, legal, and operations. 

As Ivan Canales, General Manager of Nu México, pointed out: 

“This is not just a win for Nu, but a win for our customers. It enables us to accelerate our impact.”

To illustrate the impact that Nu is having in Mexico, we can highlight Cajita Turbo, a high-yield savings feature offering 15% annual returns with instant liquidity, one of the best offers on the Mexican market. Designed and delivered by local teams, Cajita Turbo is a direct response to customers asking for better ways to save without sacrificing flexibility.

Meanwhile, our engineers continue to scale a platform that already supports millions across the region. Building for resilience, low latency, and trust is core to our promise.

Beyond the code, we’re also building culture. Initiatives like Tinta Nu, a series that tells real customer stories, underscore the human impact of everything we do. From gaining financial independence to navigating life’s big changes, our users are the true protagonists of this journey.
