Ten years. A round, symbolic number, especially when talking about the people who transformed a startup into one of the largest financial services platforms in the world, serving over 118 million customers.

In this text, we want to celebrate those who’ve been building the purple future for a decade. People who believed in what Nubank could become. Individuals who made mistakes, learned, and grew together. People who now look back and see more than just another experience on their resume; they genuinely feel they’re doing the best work of their lives.

Below, we share stories from some Nubankers who’ve been with us for 10 years. These are unique narratives with a common thread: a daily commitment to making the extraordinary possible.

Arthur: from 5,000 to 100 million customers

When Arthur joined Nubank, the entire company fit into a single room and had about 5,000 customers. He remembers the Monday All Hands meetings in the little house in Brooklin—the first Nubank office—the challenge of juggling his initial days here with the notice period at another job, and how everything felt small yet promising.

Ten years later, he witnessed the company going public on the New York Stock Exchange and surpassing 100 million customers. And he’s still here, helping to write the next chapter of this story.

“So much of who I am professionally was shaped here. The way I think, work, and tackle complex problems.”

One of his most memorable experiences was building the Authorizer—a system that helps process card transactions. It was the first big project he launched with an engineering team. Today, it supports a major part of the operation that serves millions daily.

Beyond the tech, Arthur learned the value of a culture rooted in collaboration and idea exchange.

“Be open. Here, we ask questions, go deep, push the limits to find the best solution. Working at Nubank means learning to collaborate with people who think differently.”

Lucas: the company evolves—and so do you

For Lucas, his 10 years at Nubank are far more than a professional milestone. In his own words, they were “a transition into adulthood.”

“I built a life here. I grew as a professional, as a person, and as a father.”

He’s been part of many projects, but one in particular stands out. He calls it Nu’s first big “level-up”: the moment we took full control of the systems behind our credit card. It was more than just a technical shift—it marked the company’s readiness to lead and stay.

Looking back, Lucas would tell his 2015 self to take decisions more calmly. Looking ahead, he offers a simple piece of advice to anyone just starting their Nu journey:

“Make the most of the incredible people here. Learn from them. And use every challenge as a chance to grow.”

Thiago: from structuring processes to leading a 70-person team

When Thiago joined Nubank, he had just turned 23. He describes himself then as “just a kid.” He started with small tasks in the finance team, helping internalize accounting processes. At the time, everything was still being built from scratch.

Ten years later, he leads a team of 70 people, and his area includes more than 400 professionals. What began as operational tasks turned into a journey of leadership, maturity, and deep business understanding.

“I can’t imagine Thiago’s story without Nubank.”

One standout moment was the launch of NuConta—a project that mobilized the entire company and marked a huge leap in scale. From a limited-approval product, Nubank became a platform offering accessible banking to millions.

“We had to think with an innovative mindset from the start. NuConta was a true turning point.”

If he could go back, Thiago would tell himself to take more risks without fear. And he leaves an invitation for anyone starting out today:

“We always say it’s still day one. So come help build the next 10 years.”

Laís: the privilege of working with incredible people

For Laís, these ten years at Nubank aren’t just defined by projects and deliverables. They’re filled with hugs, celebrations, changes, and learnings shared with people who became an essential part of her life. What marked this decade the most was the quality of the connections she built along the way.

“Ten years is a long time in anyone’s life. A lot happens—marriages, moves to other cities or countries, children… I experienced all that with colleagues here.”

These weren’t just personal bonds—they laid the foundation for exceptional work. Laís believes how we relate as a team directly impacts what we deliver to customers. And it was this collaborative culture that helped turn dreams into real solutions.

One of the most challenging and unforgettable projects of her journey was Nubank’s international expansion. For a long time, the idea seemed distant. Then things changed fast—Laís dove headfirst into making the platform available in a new country. The move demanded technical vision, execution skills, and mutual trust.

“Building all that infrastructure for another country was an enormous challenge. But also one of the most amazing moments of my career.”

When asked what has kept her at the same company all these years, Laís responds without hesitation: Nubank’s impact. For her, this isn’t just a slogan, but “a principle reflected in daily decisions.”

“‘Fight Complexity, Empower People.’ That purpose guides everything I do, whether developing a product for the end customer or working behind the scenes. That’s what still motivates me today.”

Dora: from housekeeper to living culture icon

Dora’s story is one of the most unique among those who have been working at Nubank for 10 years. When she arrived, in her own words, “I didn’t even know how to use a computer.” She had doubts about whether to accept the offer. “Should I go or not?” she asked herself. But she came. And, according to her, it was the best decision she could’ve made.

“I started as a housekeeper, then got promoted to supervisor, joined the Facilities team, moved to the Experience team, and later returned to Facilities. I learned so much in every role.”

Over the years, Dora not only learned new skills—she reinvented herself. She moved across teams, grew professionally and personally, and became a true symbol of how Nubank’s culture embraces and transforms people from all kinds of backgrounds. Today, she’s one of the most beloved people at the company.

“The Dora speaking to you today is a completely different person from the one 10 years ago.”

A defining moment for her was the launch event of NuConta. For the first time, the company invited media, hosted a large-scale event, and showed the world it was ready to grow. For Dora, it was a clear turning point.

“You could tell Nubank really wanted to grow—and that this dream of going global was becoming real.”

Another milestone was seeing our CEO, David Vélez, speak in person. Even after years at the company, she hadn’t had that chance. When it finally happened, it moved her deeply—because to her, leadership is about presence and example.

Today, Dora believes her mission is to care for those who care for our customers. She lives that every day—in the details of our spaces, the experience of those who work here, and the way she welcomes everyone.

“We’re always here, making sure the space is great for our customers and our Nubankers. We care for the ones who care for our customers. That’s something powerful here.”

And to those just starting, Dora offers a heartfelt, generous piece of advice:

“Dive deep into Nubank’s culture. Understand the values, and be willing to unlearn and grow. It’s worth it.”

What remains after 10 years?

Titles change. Products evolve. The list of countries we operate in grows.

But one thing stays the same: the will to do things differently. To fight complexity. To empower customers and colleagues. And to use technology, purpose, and hard work to transform the world around us.

These stories show that Nubank isn’t just a place to work. It’s a place to grow, learn, and believe.

To the Nubankers who’ve been with us since the early days—thank you for being part of this story, and for helping us build the Purple Future, every single day.
