Nubank was born to end the complexity of the financial system and give people back control of their money, causing a change in the market status quo and empowering its customers to take care of their finances. 

That being said, we want to be remembered not only for the purple revolution we created but for how we got there. This is the legacy we work every day to leave and, as we are nonconformists by nature, we want to be one step ahead when it comes to ESG.

Today, these three letters that represent care for the Environmental (E), Social (S), and Governance (G) areas now have a manifesto video that illustrates our commitment to following sustainable development plans over the years and decades to come. Watch the video just released below.

Concrete actions to generate impact

The video presents Nubank’s commitment to generating a significant and lasting impact for society, and many of our actions are already taking place. They can be found on our website pages. Nu Impacto in E, S, and G.

Among the main initiatives of the last year, Semente Preta (Black Seed, in Portuguese), an investment fund created by Nubank to finance startups founded and/or led by black entrepreneurs, stands out. It is worth mentioning Nu’s new technology hub in Salvador, NuLab, our first Brazilian office outside of São Paulo. 

Recently, Nubank embraced the ten commitments of the UN Global Compact; we partnered with the edtechs Cubos Academy and Alura to offer a training course for programmers; we published the report of our impact journey; and a 2021 report showed that Nubank was responsible for the inclusion of 3.8 million people in the financial system in Brazil alone.
