Nubank was founded in 2013 with the mission to challenge the status quo and fight against the complexity of the financial system. From day one, we have maintained an unwavering focus on people, whether they are customers or Nubankers. Providing opportunities to attract and retain talented professionals is as fundamental as earning the fanaticism of our over 100 million customers.

We believe the future is purple and full of challenges, driving us to seek innovation and transform the financial reality of millions of people through our talents. Building your place at Nubank means doing the extraordinary every day.

But what does this mean in practice? We spoke with Nubankers from Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico, each from different areas, tenure, and experience, to share their career stories at Nu.

Working at Nubank means putting the customer at the center to reinvent history

Ximena Castro, Senior Marketing Manager in Colombia, shares what her daily work routine at Nubank is like. “Here, you feel that your work impacts everyone in one way or another. Not just in Colombia, but in all the countries where we operate. I feel like I’m working on something big, a super company.” She joined the Colombia team early in its operation and saw the company grow.

Maitê Balhester, Director of Loan Engineering in Brazil, agrees. For her, Nubank’s main differentiator is building products that offer something fundamentally different. This ability to create what doesn’t yet exist and go beyond is what drives the company to improve the lives of millions of people.

For Michelle Naranjo, Senior Compliance Manager in Mexico for the past 3 years, Nubank’s ability to change the financial services model globally is something she values. She believes that the company is one of the few with the power to transform the world and people’s lives

Working at Nubank means doing your best work alongside inspiring people

Isabela Gonçalves, Principal Software Engineer in Brazil, has been working at Nubank for 8 years and says she learns daily from the people she shares her routine with.

She shares that she joined the team as a junior professional and it was Nubank’s challenges that allowed her to evolve her career and knowledge. Isabela participated in the creation of internal products for our credit card and the expansion of operations in Mexico, where she led Nubank’s first international initiative when she became an Engineering Manager.

The talent of our teams also attracted Lucas Cabrera, Senior Staff Software Engineer from Colombia, to work at Nubank. According to him, what caught his attention the most was “how a group of engineers solves such complex problems related to something that is very important in everyone’s life: people’s money.”

Here, our customer service teams are called Xpeers, and their managers are X-Managers. This team is responsible for creating deep relationships with each customer. Jacob Ruiz, Customer Service Manager in Mexico, also admires the team’s ability to make things happen, take on new responsibilities, and even divide his life between “before and after Nubank.”

Working at Nubank Means creating spaces, breaking barriers, and taking responsibility

Camila Santana, Senior Compliance Manager in Colombia, offers an interesting perspective on the work routine at Nubank. For her, it is important to understand that regardless of tenure, seniority level, or position, people here have a strong sense of responsibility that is felt in all offices.

This is also what drives Priscila Soberanes, Senior Design Manager in Mexico, to do her best every day. “We have open doors to express our curiosity and autonomy to take on responsibilities, leading initiatives forward. This transforms us into our best professional selves.”

Raphael Albino, Chief of Staff in Brazil, feels this in practice. After passing through several teams and roles at Nubank, what connects him most to the company is the possibility to experiment in different spaces to learn about new areas. He sees Nubank as a laboratory open to experimentation.

Working at Nubank Means Making the Extraordinary Happen

With 20 years of design experience, Paula Macedo, Senior Design Manager in Brazil, renews her mission and professional purpose every day at Nubank. For her, what defines her career is the belief that technology can transform the world, and here she found a place of reference for that.

Paula saw this transformation happen in her neighborhood, her country, and then cross borders. This same pride motivates Fortino Gutiérrez, Staff Software Engineer at Nubank in Mexico. “Leaving home and seeing people paying with the Nu card is something that always moves me, even though we already have 100 million customers. I love knowing that we are developing products that are truly interesting and customer-focused,” says Fortino.

Working at a company of this scale, but preserving autonomy in each task, is also what makes Jorge Jiménez, Senior Engineering Manager in Colombia, choose to challenge himself at Nubank every day.

These are just a few examples among the thousands of Nubankers who make the extraordinary happen every day, from Latin America to the world.
